Marma Farms

Dave and Gail Gordon started their dog show careers separately but coincidentally in the same year, 1971. Dave started in Ohio and Gail in Georgia. Dave and Gail met through the dog show ring and were later married in 1979. In our 52 years showing dogs, we have finished more than 100 Champions. Dave chose the name “Marma Farms" because he was breeding and showing Great Danes to begin with, and Marmaduke was the well-known comic strip about a silly Great Dane. Gail also started showing and breeding Great Danes. When we were married, we combined kennels and kept the name "Marma Farms". It wasn't until 2003 that we started breeding and showing Shiba Inu.

Other animals and breeds of dogs we have shown and raised in the 51 years include: Irish Wolfhounds, Belgian Horses, Shetland Sheepdogs, Miniature Pinchers, Miniature Schnauzers, Smooth Fox Terriers, and Havanese. Our current and only breed is Shiba Inu because of the breeds personality, cleanliness and beautiful coats.

Eighteen years ago we decided that Shiba Inu are going to be our only breed.

We are members of the Heart of Dixie Shiba Fanciers

Some of the Gordons' proudest accomplishments are as follows:

  • There were sixteen Shiba Inu that completed their Championship in one year where Marma Farms was the breeder.
  • The American Kennel Club chose Marma Farms (Dave and Gail) as two of the original 50 breeders for a nationwide Breeder of Merit Program, including all breeds.
  • Being voted a two time “Breeder of the Year" for our Belgian Horses by the Georgia Draft Horse and Mule Association.
